Environmental Statement

At Cedar Croft our aim is to produce plants for sale in an environmentally friendly way as is economically possible without impacting upon the quality of the finished plant. This is achieved by the following actions:

Potting Composts
We have reduced the use of peat by 50% and we are now using a locally sourced Cornish Growing medium mix. This growing medium is 100% sustainable and we have been working closely with TT Compost LTD for a number of years.

Waste Materials
We are actively reducing and recycling our office and business waste to reduce waste sent to landfill.

Fertilizers
We use a mixture of both organic and inorganic fertilizers plus slow release fertilizers in all potting composts to reduce excess leaching into the environment.

Growing Containers
All Pots and containers are reused.

Energy
Low energy strip lights are used throughout the site.
Fluorescent strip lighting is more efficient as the electrical charge is used to excite a gas in a tube, which maximizes light output with minimum heat loss; more of the energy is converted into useful light, rather than wasted as heat. For the technically minded that’s 70 'lumens' of light for every watt capacity, where traditional tungsten light bulbs only give out 15 lumens.

Advice Service
Our garden Guru section on this website will provide articles and blog posts that will encourage our customers to use responsible gardening products and methods
